THE DREAM In 1990 Sean's childhood dream comes true, he is drafted by the World Champion San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association. Being drafted in the second round as the last overall pick turned out to be a motivational factor that kept Sean in the league for seven years, playing for six different teams. No one in the prior 23 years being drafted last, had ever played one second in a NBA regular season game. .jpg)
Sean was always ready when a team needed his services, never allowing himself to get out of shape. According to Sean, Clyde Drexler told him before an exhibition game in 1994, that if he stayed in shape and continued shooting the ball consistently, he could play a long time. At the end of Sean's seven year stint in the NBA, he packed his jumpshot and embarked on another chapter of his basketball journey, "The Euroleague."

SEAN HIGGINS: Europe was great, I had good times playing abroad! I was telling people back in the states at the time, that Euro players were catching us as basketball players. They are very fundamental! I thank Andy Anderson for teaching me the fundamentals at a very young age. This allowed me to compete without wasting a lot of energy and having a jumper helped as well.
Europe was one of my most memorable experiences, as a player, states Sean. While playing in Europe he took his team to championship rounds every season being named to various All - European teams. European lifestyle was so impressionable to Sean, he plans to live there one day. Around the year 2000, Sean returned to the states, and was presented the opportunity to play for one of his childhood favorites, George "Ice Man" Gervin, who had just accepted the head coaching position ironically with the Detroit Dogs of the American Basketball Association; Wow...... this was like a movie to Sean.
"I emulated George's moves as a kid and was drafted by the Spurs, so I jumped at the opportunity" states Sean. The Spurs were the same team Gervin booked his Hall of Fame career with. Sean was fortunate to help his new team win the championship, while starting at small forward.
"I learned so much about the game from George, we shared a lot in common as it relates to playing the game offensively" states Sean. After his stint with "Ice", Sean transitioned his passion into coaching, and what passion he brings.
SEAN HIGGINS: I love the game as much as you should love your own child, and that's the way I plan to nurture and protect basketball whenever I'm associated with it. Dr. James Naismith was so kind to lend to us his precious gift, so let's preserve and blossom the game, as we continue to enjoy it!
